Hi all,

I`ev started using star cd recently,an anyone tell me how i can merge the solid and fluid cells.I tried using the 'assemble grids ' option but i get an error when i try to save the geom file. The error that I get is "Materisl assigned to solid is a fluid".

Any help is greatly appreciated.

KCG

P.S:I have a solid heat source inside a fluid.

Any suggestions??

you need to have a different cell type for solid and fluid cells. In each cell type you specify the material number. You probably have the same material type assigned to both fluid and solid cells. Click the CTAB button in prostar

What do you eaxctly mean by merging, creating couple? Its not possible to make a solid-fluid couple. For coupling master and slave both should be either solid or fluid.

But if you have same surface mesh at the solid-fluid interface, then you will have to merge the correspondng one-to-one vertices.

Hi, you can read Tutorial 10 STAR-CD v.3.26 or like this (about buoyancy driven flow). Or you can modify all cells to one type, merge and than to modify some cells to needed type if mesh geometry allows this (this is done in this tutorial).
