I'm going to buy a new 64bit workstaton, and I'd like to install Mandriva Linux and CCM+ V2 on it, together with 8+ gb ram. Is it possible to use Star CCM+ V2 under the Mandriva Linux 2007 operating system? And if yes, someone has some feedback? Better or worse than under Windows? Thank you. Vmax

star-ccm+ is officially supported for Suse Enterprise and Red Hat Enterprise. It may or may not work on any other version of linux, but you will not receive support for it on other versions if it doesn't work. I have used it on both linux and windows and I doesn't see much difference between them on the desktop. I haven't tried it on a 64bit windows system yet.

Linux is better than windows for CFD.
On Linux always use offical O.S. : suse and redhat and not open source weird DIY OS like mandriva, mandrake, feudor, etc... |

Thank you AR!
I think it should work straightforward also on Mandriva as all linux distros share the same fundamentals blocks. Tell me more about your experiences in Linux, how is better than Windoze, I mean, memory allocation, stability, speed, what else? Thanks, Vmax |
