Hi all,

I am trying to simulate the boiling of liquid water in a horizontal channel. Liquid water (at Temp=100 C, 1 atm) enters from one side and leaves completly as vapor due to a specified heat flux.

Any idea to simulat this is welcomed.

Thanks a lot in advance.

salam u can use a code like FLUENT to simulate it . about me i'm not good in FLUENT but I knwo u can do taht in FLUENT by the way i'm working on simulation of mixed convection in a horizontal rectangular channel contain heat sources .
take care. slm

Since you are in the CD-adapco forum, I assume you want to use a CD-adapco product. STAR-CD version 14 has the boiling framework needed. As a point of reference, STAR-CD version 3.27 was declared the best in the CFD industry at 2 phase flow when it accurately reproduced the NUPIC benchmarks in the nuclear industry. Version 4.14 supposedly has the same capabilty (I say supposedly because I have not tried it, only spoken to colleagues that have). Unfortunatley STAR-CD does not incorporate a conjugate heat transfer model in its two phase models. STARCCM+ does not yet have the capability, but is supposed to with version 6.02.

The fact is, CD-adapco was the leader in the industry with its 2 phase modeling before it brought out STAR-CD version 4. For some reason they reverted back to not supporting boiling and two phase flow until just recently.
