A question from a FLUENT user!!

Hey guys,
I am a FLUENT user and I have a meshed 3-D geometry in STAR-CD format (.cel), do you know how can I convert it to fluent format OR a format that it can be accepted by designing packages such as GAMBIT? I would appreciate your help, Spyros |

I use the NASTRAN format for such things. It tends to be universally supported. It is on the StarCD side. I do not know about GAMBIT.

export using TGRID command. I hope this will work fine. do direction write first. Check for Tgrid command.

You cannot export TGRID format. Its read only. Use something in common like nastran.

Is it the only file you have?
If so I do not think there is a way for you unless you have prostar or proam pre/post processor, or another file which contains information about vertices coordinates (.vrt). |

You can try to save a .ccm file, then open it into star-ccm+, then export it from star-ccm+

Yes I have .bnd (information for triangles) and .vrt files too, do you know what to do Vladimir? Anyway, thank you all guys for your responses Spyros

Hi Spyros,
I am not too familiar with fluent (gambit) importing capabilities but the thing I know is that the former one accepts nastran, patran, and/or cgns files. These can be exported from prostar and read into fluent. The thing is, though, the boundary conditions has to be indicated by shell cells (a special cell type for each boundary region) for the export. Otherwise there would not be any boundary conditions imported into fluent. Hope it helps. |
