In you shell's resource configuration file (.bashrc, .cshrc, etc.), set the environment variables MACRO_GLOBAL & PANEL_GLOBAL. For example, I use a C shell. SO in my .cshrc file I have the lines: setenv MACRO_GLOBAL ${NETDIR}/prostarTools/macros and setenv PANEL_GLOBAL ${NETDIR}/prostarTools/panels where ${NETDIR} is an environment variable set to a particular location on a network drive.

I believe windows uses the same (or at least similar) environment variables. However, I couldn't tell you where to change such a thing in that POS OS.

In the same machine of mine, for v3.15a, it automatically there; for v3.22, have to copy/paste path to 'environment setup' each switch-up; for v3.26, copy/paste is causing collapse, have to type in. A getting worse history! seting should be somewhere in STAR not xp system. Thank you anyway.

hi guang ai

if you follow this page
http://www.wilsonmar.com/1envvars.htm
and set up variables
MACRO_GLOBAL
PANEL_GLOBAL
to point to the locations where you have your panels and macros saved, then it should work. Another useful variable according to Star manuals could be
STARUSR
being the right place to locate prostar init files, such as PRODEFS and PROINIT.
Hope it'll help.

I have tried editing proinit.bart file by putting in 'seten,panel,global$c:\progra~1\...'. But it seems the proinit.bart file has not been used by prostar.

Thank you very very much Vladimir. It works well as to your first advice. STARUSR does not work yet. But it is good enough!

There is an issue in the v3.26 windows version in that the STARUSR environment variable set in windows is overridden by the config.xml file, located in C:\Program Files\CD-adapco\STAR-CD\bin. To fix it, edit the config.xml file and change the STARUSR path.

Thank you very much. I set STARUSR path to local directory and successfully let PROINIT go. All my problem have been solved.
