Hi,I am simulating a 2 stage turbine with Star-CD. I make the mesh outside the Star-CD and read the files to Star, stage by stage. The geometry is such that I have to simulate the whole annulus of the turbine. the problem start when the number of cells become more than about 800'000. I always test the stators and rotors seperately in Star and they work perfectly, even when I combine them together to make the complete 2-stage, I test them stage by stage, at the time that the number of the cells increases to more than about 800'000 the error message as below occurs, ./star-inter.sh: line 9: 7360 Segmentation fault ./star-test.exe<EOD In Line 9 of the file "star-inter.sh" is only written EOD and nothing else. Could anyone help me with this? Thanks so much in advance.

Before you start pro-STAR run prosize and make sure to set the maxvrt and maxcel to numbers slightly larger than your biggest final cell and vertex numbers. It sounds like you are running out of memory on your machine so setting these numbers before you start will optimize whatever memory you actually have.

A segmentation fault is generally a memory allocation error. It looks like you are trying to allocate more memory than is available on your machine: i.e. your job has become too large to run on one CPU. Either you need to run the job in parallel, or get a 64-bit machine

ur model is too big for ur machine to solve. if it was problem of 'prosize' , you cannot load the mdl or write geom file.
