You cannot open a SolidWorks file directly within STAR-CCM+. At the present time, STAR-CCM+ is only a solver and has no meshing capability. There are two things you could do, with the proper licenses:

1. export a parasolid from SolidWorks and import that into STAR-CCM+/Design where you can mesh it then solve.

2. use STAR-Works directly within SolidWorks (it's a plugin) to create a mesh and solve with STAR-CCM+

So, with the trial version it is not possible to import solidworks files, because the model has to be meshed? Thanks!

your only other option is to export from solidworks into a global format (iges, stl, x_t etc etc) then use a different meshing package and export the mesh
