free edges on patches

hi,
i'm trying to fit a rectangular shell around a gap of my surface. when i use the patch command to build the outer four shells the pro-am surface check tool displays "free edges" for each new edge. what did i wrong? why they are open? thanks for help! florian |

The free edges error appears when surface is not closed. Ensure that surface is closed. Secondly try the option Fix Surface Problem -> Using cursor to creat the shell for given four vetices
