Hello,
My colleague and me are trying to simulate a fire and we use a subroutine(sorent.f) to do that. However, we doubt how to set the parameters which are S1P, S2P in order to achieve a constant heat release rate (for instance, source=200kW) Would be waiting eagerly! Thanks in advance! |

a) Set S1P to zero. You do not need it unless you want to model a heat sink. b) Set S2P to the heat release value divided by the volume of the cells on which you want to model the heat release. The volume can be obtained either from pro*star or using the subroutine posdat.f in level #1. To make things easier, the cells on which you want to set the heat source should have a particular type, so that you can check for it.

First of all, thanks for your assistance.
------------------------------------- Source = S1P-S2P*T, (W/m3) S1P=Great*T, S2P=Great -------------------------------------- Actually, we try to set S1P to zero and Set S2P to the heat release value (200kW) divided by the volume of the cells on which we want to model the heat release. However, we check the temperature of the source after simulation and found that the temperature is still quite low. I think the problem must occur in the setting of Great. Do you have any suggestion and how to observe the source really equal to 200kW in Pro-Star? Thanks |

Hi, you should set S1P to Q/(cell volume) and set S2P to zero for a constant release rate.
The check if the user routine is correct is best done by enabling the residual and conservation check in the "Monitor numerical behavoir" dialog in the Nav Center. Inspect the QSOR item in the *.info file after a few iterations Regards |

i want to solve the same problem. i have one question. the volume is this of only one cell or the volume of all the cell, in which i defined the source. thanks |

It is the volume of all the cells on which you define the source. Thank you Simon for correcting me. I got S1P and S2P mixed up (bad, bad)
