How to build the mesh

Dear all,
I want to build a model which has a moving sliding-valve that is used to close and open a round pipe. The sliding-valve has a round hole which has the same diameter as the pipe. At the first time the pipe is closed by the valve when the the two holes don't have any same area. When the sliding-valve is moving, the sliding-vale opens and closes the pipe in an nearly constant speed (not very fast).Finally the pipe is closed. And before and after the sliding-valve there are diffent pressure values. How can I realize this process? I think I should use the moving mesh and cell attachment and deattachment. I have read teh tutorial 13, but in that case the moving part has a flat head. IN my case it has a circular cross-section. Does anyone has any good ideas to realize the cell attachment and deattachment for a moving circular head part in a circular area? Especially the process for the pipe is opened wider is different with the process for the pipe is closed smaller as far as the circular shape of the valve hole is concerned. Lee,
I am not mailing to help with ur problem as I dont have any idea , but I too am planning to do a moving mesh problem with cell attachment and detachment and also with arbritary sliding mesh... So we can help each other out as our projects go along. what u say??? AB |

Tut 11 is closer to your case (trains passing each other) except you can make it much simpler - only one mesh piece moves, and you don't need to add and delete cells at each end of the moving piece - simple move the whole mesh piece (ie the vertices) as some function of time.
Then the only other thing is to create attach boundaries at each pipe openning where they cross. |
