You have been introduced to the grand old segmentation fault. Many different problems (divide by 0, run out memory, oversubscripting an array,...) can cause this. For someone to help, you would have provide much more information than you have because there are a thousand different ways you can get into this trouble.

Thanks Steve,

Here it is: my model deals with natural convection in a huge volume (12x12x12 m). so it was transient and the core file generation happened after 10000 time steps, so I guess I exceeded the memory (or .pstt file size?) limit. oh, and it consisted of 1 200 000 cells and was calculated on double PIV mashine with 2 GB of RAM.

Are those details enough? and what is funny: I have restarted it from the moment it collapsed and passed already the critical point and it is still working...
