i have HP machine (Pentium-IV 2,8GHz) with Windows XP Service Pack-1. I am not able to optimize the x-vision graphics. On running prostar, it gives a message "Profile already running" and does not progress any further. is there any additional requirement for proper installation of X-vision. Thanks in advance.

You are a victim of a bug between xvision and Intel on-board graphics cards. To get around the problem, you can install Cygwin/X, a free xserver. It can be found at
http://x.cygwin.com Speaking from experience, make sure you READ CAREFULLY the installation guide BEFORE downloading and installing. When you install, you will need to add these two packages xorg-x11-base X-startup-scripts to the list of things to download and install. Also, you're current graphics card needs to be capable of a screen resolution of 1280x1024 dpi. If it isn't, Cygwin/X won't help you. |

Hi Leo,
Thanks a lot. I have another query. X-vision is working fine on another PC with on-board graphics card (82845G Intel Graohics controller, on a 2.26GHz machine with Windows 200 Service Pack 4). Will Humming Bird's Exceed work with on-board graphics controller. Prabodh |

Please the windows version of STAR-CD install Guide.
you need to modify your xvision. first . In the properties for xvision->server ->Backing store , function it. second. In the control panle -> vision of communcation -> transport -> Tcpip-unix ->enable transport. restart the Xvision . every will be good! |

Tried all the suggested options. but nithing works. I had a similar problem on a celeron machine with on-board graphics card. By the way, Humming bird Exceed works perfectly and I am now using it for Star-CD.

The bug does not occur with all on-board Intel cards. There is no list of which ones work/don't work. STAR-CD will work with exceed.

What tomosada siad is right. go to control panel open Viosn Properties, enable both the tcp transports click ok, before doing this kill the running xvision, if its running, now start ur program everything will be fine, if another user logs into this sytem to use the same application then u have to do the same in his account also, its only a per user one time setting.
