I am doing biomass gasification. I am using the coal combustion model in STARCD v3.150 for my case.As we all know biomass is characterized by its high volatile content. While modelling the problem i find difficult in the convergence of the problem. I find difficult to proceed.I also want to know whether we can give chemical reactions of our own other than what STARCD set for coal combustion. If anybody is having ideas clarify me.

Thank You.

Hello, I am also doing this subject. I donot think we beed change chemical reactions at the first step. the most important is we have to get volatiles value for difference biass. if you get problem for convergence, if it is possble, send the mdl file to me, and maybe i can give u some suggestion.

Hai Steve,

Thanks for ur response. How u are using the problem? I also want to know how u are using the coal combustion model available in STARCD. I am using STARCD v 3.150 A. I worked out one combustion problem in this one and i am getting a resonable results.

But if i am using the same problem for gasification problem means i am getting in to the problem. I also want to know whether STARCD V3.150A (in XP - OS) is capable of handling the problem. Plz respond to me immediately. I can share a lot of things regarding this problem.

Hi, The coal combustion is Ok if you solve combustion case. But for gassification case, this model only can deal with part of gassification process. Conerning the gassification process, first we need know the compositions of gas after pyrolysis process. This can be obtained for example useing FG-DVC model. Then it is possible to continous with STARCD cold combustion model. By the way, how do you deal with biomass itself? Did you deal with it as a particles? regards

Dear Steve
I hope you can still see my words..
How to set parament in two phase reactions(solid phase and gas phase)make a downdraf biomass gasification model use FLUENT?

I deal with biomass as small particle(solid)

Thank you!
