Temperature problem

The model is a simple cube with a smaller cube in it, both water cells. The smaller cube shall be warmer. I don't want to use any inlet or outlet. When I use 2 Material sets of H2O I get Error #5 ("Adjacent cells are in different fluid streams and not separated"). The tricks seems to be to use scalars but how do I match the scalars to the specific cells without defining two materials? Many tia, Jan </body> </html>

It sounds like you have set up the case wrongly. You should have one material type only (H2O), with these settings: density=f(T), buoyancy on, temperature solver on, properties of water. The way to have part of the domain with a different initial temperature is to make these cells a different cell type (but same material type) and activate INITFI for the initial conditions. Then in INITFI you can set the initial temperature to be different in each cell type (ICTID). Alternatively, instead of INITFI, you could use a table to specify T(x,y,z), in which case you wouldn't need different cell types. Remember to run the analysis in transient mode.
