Hi everybody,,, Many thanks to ctjune and Leo... I've jumped the problem using Xmotif interface, and seems everythings it's OK... Now I've another problem. uhmmmm!!! I'm trying to import into Proam some CAD files generated with Rhinoceros 3, but there is nothing to do every time the same error message:"AND option is INvalid..." or something like that. I tried to save the file with any extension supported by both software like: .igs .vda .stl, but without any result. Does anybody knows how can I resolve this problem? Thanks...

i had this problem once couldnt remember why and how i solved it though. Are you importing an assembly? that might be one thing, also try and use stl files i find that they are easiest but make sure you are importing the right type (ascii/binary) rhino gives the option to output both and it does'nt matter which type you use providing you import the same as you saved. Also star doesnt seem to like it if your files names have spaces.

Yes, no spaces in your CAD file names. Not even for the Windows version of ProSTAR/AM. .stl files are the best if you just need surface data but if you need splines and points too then you need to import .iges (can overlay original .stl shells).

A couple of things to note. The Windows version of STAR-CD is actually the Unix version running under emulation software (Nutcracker). Therefore Unix file naming conventions apply ie no spaces in file names.

With respect to getting CAD data into pro-am, if you review Chapter 4 of the pro-am user manual, the recommended route is to save your data in IGES format and then import this into pro-surf for cleaning up. pro-surf can then save a database file which pro-am can read directly. It is not recommended to read the IGES data directly into pro-am as the IGES reader is not a patch on the pro-surf one. If you do not have a license for pro-surf then bug your sales representative as it comes free with pro-am.
