Problems with .bnd files

Hello
HELP! HELP! HELP! Does anybody know how to define boundary regions using a ".bnd file" (boundary tool>other>boundary read )? My problem is that I must impose Pressure and Speed on the borders of my domain. I think I'll use a "Pressure" boundary condition. So I have put the cell faces I need to define in a file with the extension .bnd with the format (in fortran 77): i8,7x,4(i8,1x),i6,1x,i6,6x,(a) adding "PRES" at each end of line (the format seems to be good, as I looked to a ".bnd file" Star-CD had written, and they look the same.) The problem is that Star-CD does not recognize the pressure condition (writting "none" for the boundary type in the "boundary list"). So if anybody knows how to do, Let me know Thanks a lot Bye, Thomas. |

Plaese forget the .bnd files and run some of the tutorials or read the manual to find out, how to define boundaries.
You can define pressure or the velocity at one boundary but not both at the same time. There exists the possibility to define velocity components within a pressure boundary type but this is a more advanced topic. |

Thanks Joern !
I had thought to this possibility, but this will unfortunately take too much time to fill all the values (600 pressure and U & V velocity components to put in) . Nevermind, I'll stop my job where I am !!!! Thanks again Tom. |

You know you have a number of alternatives 1)Write a program to write prostar REGION commands and then ifile it 2)Use tables and let star interpolate over a region 3)Write a user subroutine to either compute the values or read them in from your own file.
There are alot of ways to input data that don'w require the typing of 600 values. |

Thanks Steve !
I tried the first method and Star doesn't recognize the condition Pressure. Maybe I'll try the third method !!!!! Bye Tom. |

Tom, That does not make any sense. Try typing interactively
REDEFINE,1,PRESS and then you will be prompted for more parameters. If it works interactively it should work on an input file as long as you provide exactly the same command strings. Steve |
