Hi there, I'm new to the forum and to CFD in general but my university project is CFD based so am trying to teach myself how to use it now. So apologies if all of this is quite basic!
I have created surfaces in Solidworks (a VW Beetle model), all of these were knitted together to get rid of free edge issues. I then meshed it using Harpoon and imported it in to Star CCM+ as an STL file. I started running the surface repair is Star and had a LOT of issues with free edges and pierced faces. I've largely sorted these out in Solidworks so there are just a few remaining. My question is particularly about the free edges, I have some for example around the windscreen even though this was knitted together in Solidworks. How do you go about getting rid of these in Star? Thanks very much for any help! |

Hi you can stitch them in surface repair tool. This problem arises because the two surfaces are not blended in geometric modelling tool itself. CCM use definite tolerance to merge this close surfaces, otherwise they forms free edges.
