Hi,
I'm trying to simulate an IC engine using STAR-CD/es-ice. I have the CAD .stp file of the engine geometry. The es-ice tutorial explains how to prepare the surface using STAR-CCM+, I'm wondering if I could import .stp directly into es-ice or another software such as ICEM and do the surface preparation explained in the tutorial. Or do I have to use STAR-CCM+ for this? Thanks! |

Hi,
You don't have to prepare surfaces by using StarCCM+. For example, I use Hypermesh to prepare surfaces but you have to convert surfaces to .dbs file format from .stp file format and only you can do this in StarCMM+. |

Ok, it is better. But you always have to import .dbs data format in es-ice environment. it means you can prepare surfaces any software you want, but finally you can convert your data file to .dbs data file in CCM+.
