Good morning,

I'm trying to force the SFLOW module with a JONSWAP spectrum but I keep seeing regular wave forcing. Whenever I launch the simulation it looks like (ref. code.png) is "computing" the spectrum at the beginning or at least recognized the input-type.

I'm relatively new to REEF3D, I've been working mainly with Xbeach (non-h) for my research project, I'm looking to compare the results of both module and I'm interested to move over REEF3D suite but I did not understand how to manage the spectrum forcing.

Moreover, I'm trying to figure out how I should manage the numerical beach relaxation zone since I'm working with a complex topography. I read that in the FNPF there is the "coastline algorithm" but it seems is not available in SFLOW.

Thanks,

Federico

p.s I'm not able to upload the geo.dat file, even zipped because it's too large but in case I can send it through the mail.

Hi,

Thanks for testing out SFLOW. I have run your case and it seems to work, see the attached pictures, your setup can generate both unidirectional irregular wave, and multi-directional irregular wave. If the multi-directional irregular wave (short-crested) is the goal, then you need to add B 136 4, the scheme to discretise the directional spreading function, and you have double defined B 131 the principal direction, you can remove the second one. Otherwise see my attached setup for reference.

Note that you haven't provided bathymetry data, so I commented out all bathymetry related commands. Based on you screenshot of the bathymetry, you SHOULD turn on wetting and drying A 343 if you have coastlines.

Bests,
Widar

Hi, thanks you

I modified the ctrl file according to what you suggest and it seem to work, but it show a weird behaviour: in the first 6 time step I can see the multidirectional irregular waves inside the domain but then at time step 7 it abruptly switch to one-directional irregular waves and it keep on until the end of the simulation.
Thanks,

Best,

Federico

p.s. I'm using paraview for visualized the otuput
