Hi sir,

I'm running a simulation on REEF3D and I'm not sure what the values for alpha and beta are in the following line of code:

B 281 * double VRANS porous media as wedge in x-direction: xstar t ,xend ,ystar t ,yend ,zstar t ,zend , n, d50,α,β.

What do alpha and beta represent in this context?

Also, what is the normal range of values for alpha and beta?

It seems like I need to know some information about the porous media in order to assign values to alpha and beta. I'm not sure where to find that information.

Thanks!

Hi Vamsi,

please check out our Coastal Engineering Journal paper about VRANS: https://www.reef3d.com/wp-content/up...cej_porous.pdf

Thank you, sir.
I checked out the paper on VRANS porous media and I reviewed the data. I have another question on the values for alpha and beta. If I want the wave to have more reflection after it hits the breakwater, should alpha and beta be kept more or less?
