Greetings. Hope everyone is doing well. I had a question regarding a REEF3D parameter.

What does it mean to fix the level set for inflow or outflow (F 50)? How does this option affect my simulation? Furthermore, what should generally be the value of this parameter in a current only, wave only and a wave-current simulation for scouring?

Hi Kaushik,

fixing the waterlevel for inflow or outflow is most relevant for open channel flow (B 60 1). Most commonly for these conditions, the inflow should be zero-gradient and the outflow should be fixed.

Thank you for the explanation. Could you please explain what would be the specific cases that would warrant fixing the inflow as well?

Not really. If the open channel flow simulation is correctly set up, the inflow water level will automatically be correct. The only case I see for fixed inflow water level is for super-critical outflow conditions (then the outflow water level cannot be fixed).
