Hello REEF 3D Teams,

How to couple SFLOW with CFD?

Also for waves + current scouring, how to give input for Um (wave velocity) and Uc?

Hi Ajay,

SFLOW to CFD coupling has been made available in the most recent release 23.01. It works analogous to the FNPF to CFD coupling.

Not sure about your question about Um and Uc, can you maybe specify further?

Hello Sir,

In waves+current simulation, Uc is the current velocity and Um is the orbital velocity due to waves. Uc can give by using the parameter W 10. but how to give Um (orbital velocity ) for the wave component? and also KC number?

Thank you sir

Hi Ajay,

Um is not given explicitly, instead you need to select the desired wave theory, wave height and wave length/period.

Hi Ajay,

not sure what you mean with that. Maybe you can explain a bit further.

Sir, currently I am running my simulations on workstations but due to high computational time, I want to run it on HPC, for that I need a REEF3D environment file. and also sir can we install this package on the centOS operating system?

Thank you, sir

Hi Ajay,

I'm not sure what you mean by saying environmental file. Did you compile REEF3D on the HPC? If so, you can run it on the HPC as usual. If you have a queue system on the HPC, you can send your simulation in the queue by using a bash file.

Hii Soydan,

No, I am trying to install it on HPC, but in HPC I can only install it if REEF3D is compatible with the CentOS operating system.

Hi Ajay,

CentOS is Linux, so it should work. Have you tried?

Hello Sir,

I am trying to replicate scour around 3 piers due to waves and current, but the scour is happing around the middle pier only. Could you please suggest which parameter i need to look.

Hey Ajay,

REEF3D will run on Linux, provided all the packages are available (Eigen, HYPRE, MPI etc.). You need to ensure that REEF3D, DIVEMesh and other required packages are installed on all the nodes of your HPC. You need to call the necessary modules(REEF3D, DIVEMesh, HYPRE and MPI) in your job script (.pbs or any other script format) and add it to the queue.

In the folder you want to run the simulation, you need to provide the ctrl.txt, control.txt and the job file (FILENAME.pbs, for example). You can add it to the queue by running qsub FILENAME.pbs
