Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a way to still use adaptive time stepping but also set the maximum value for the time step? I tried leaving adaptive time stepping N 48 1 and also adding N 49 0.0025 but that didn't seem to do anything. Is control over the time step only allowable when adaptive time stepping is turned off?

Additionally, I was wondering if its possible to define the output frequency for height gauges (i.e P 51)? Ideally, I would like to output the wave gauge readings much more frequently then the results for the entire model domain.

Cheers,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

yes, when N 48 1 is used, per definition, N 49 will be discarded. Instead, the time step size is controlled through N 47, the CFL number (should be between 0.1 and 0.3). This is the best and most efficient way to control the time step without sacrificing numerical stability.

Gage output frequency is controlled with P 54 or P 55.

Hi Hans,
The output frequency wsfline files (P 53) is controlled when setting P 54 or P 55.
How do set output frequency height gauges (P 51) like that?

Hi,

P 51 needs to print out every iteration.
