I am meshing an airplane (half model) using a symmetry BC. The issue is that the surface at that symmetric surface joins with it at angles ranging from nearly perpendicular (which makes for an easy transition) to nearly parallel at parts of the vertical stabilizer. This results in a very poor mesh quality in the near-parallel regions with a lot of elements with >179deg max angle. Is there a better way I can approach meshing the boundary layer off the surface here?

Hi there,

If you attach a picture to your post it could be lot easier to imagine what’s happing when your model meets the symmetric plane and what t-Rex and none t-Rex options you might have...

Cheers,
Pay

It turns out it was more of an issue with a bad surface that was causing some elements to invert. Problem solved!
