Hello, meshing community! I'm wondering if anyone has experienced a slow down in execution, or solve time using Pointwise? And if you have did you figure out what caused it or how to get around it?
I'm on a Mac (10.11.6) running Pointwise V18.1 R1. I am generating meshes of approximately the same size (cell count) and using the same general geometry I have received from SolidWorks however the time to simply assemble a block or generate a surface mesh has increased 10 fold from a couple of days ago. My machine isn't doing anything else and I can easily see that Pointwise is consuming all of my CPU's. The most recent operation is to assemble a group of domains into a block (not even generate the mesh just assemble it) and it has been sitting on 14% for almost 2 hours. The previous operation was to construct surface meshes for an imported database which took about 30 min, yesterday that would have taken me about 2 min or less... Any ideas on why it seems to be hanging? Thanks! |

I would recommend you first try updating Pointwise to 18.2R1. If the problem persists, then I would recommend you forward this issue to Pointwise's technical support with your customer ID to let them help diagnose the issue--I mean customer support is one of key reasons you purchase a license for commercial software...
