Hi, I'm using Pointwise V18.0 R1.

I'm working in a 3D mesh of a turbine, and i'm building the geometry and the mesh using Pointwise. I already build the turbine by using the Extrude Translate, but I had to change the mesh I was using for another similar but finer.

Now that I change the mesh I can't use the Extrude translate, when I select the domain the Extrude option is not available so I can't use the Extrude translational. I only can get to this option if I select the connector, but this way I wont have blocks but domains.

What I'm I doing wrong, what else can a I check? I've been tryring checking the orientation of the domain, even building again the domain but still the same problem. Is there any requisite in the domain so the Extrude Translational can be use?,

Hi David, I already specify the description fo my problem. I can tell you that using some meshes I can use not only domains but also connector with the Extrude Translation, but I donīt understand whaīs wrong whith this mesh because itīs not available to be use neither with domains nor connectors.

I need to use this mesh, because of its quality and some other details I added to the geometry.

What do you think is the problem?

You might be able to activate it by going to the top menu bar and doing:
CAE>Set Dimension >3D
Then you should be able to extrude.

I found this from this video:

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but this question came up when I searched for the extrude option being greyed out when trying to extrude a 2D domain to a 3D block in Pointwise 18.

Sorry for replying to an old thread, I'm new to Pointwise, and this is what worked for me.
