Splitting domains on CGNS import

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way to have more control over how domains are created when importing an existing mesh into Pointwise V18? I have an existing CGNS mesh on which I want to apply boundary conditions, but I have found that on importing, the domains do not seem to be split in a sensible way. (I want to create a symmetry, a farfield, and a body BC.) I've attached some screenshots to help demonstrate the issue - in the symmetry image, it seems that the domain simply ignores the underlying geometry and runs straight through the aircraft. I have tried different angles in the Split Domain Angle setting and also tried toggling on the Split Multiple Edged Domains setting but haven't found a setting that seems to work. Can anyone offer another approach? I have also tried split the domain by hand but I can't seem to find a way to do so (apologies if I've missed something obvious). Thanks! EDIT: Added a close up of the sting. In this case, the Domain Splitting angle was set to 60 (if I understand correctly, every corner over this should be a domain edge, is that correct?) but based on the sting image, I'm not sure why the rear 3 faces of the sting successfully get split from the farfield (bottom surface in the image) yet the rest of the sting body is not split from the farfield (rest of the half cylinder going up off the image). Hope this clarifies the situation a bit! Last edited by tjim; October 26, 2018 at 10:34. Reason: Adding an image |
