I have a portion of geometry (i.e. four fins that have been separated from the vehicle body) that I would like to export in a .dat file format. I need the columns to be the x, y, and z positions of each node. Is this possible?

In Pointwise it is called a segment file.
You can import using File/Import/Grid... or File/Import/Database... See the post Pointwise segment file or .dat file example for file format details. |

Yes.
You can export SEGMENT (.dat) files:
In both cases, you must choose Segment file type in the Export Grid dialog box. |
