As a result of some problems I had with 3.6, I tried rerunning my CHEMKIN combustion models in 3.4 but with migal turned on for the hydrodynamic terms. It slows down calculations by about a factor of three, but the velocities and pressures converge faster by about a factor of 10 - 20. The net result is a more completely converged solution at the end of a run because the CHEMKIN point-by-point solver causes the chemical source terms to dominate the flow variables, but MIGAL ameliorates this by dramatically increasing the efficiency of the flow-term convergence. The result is that very few sweeps of the SIMPLEST solver are required to completely converge the solution.
