Hello,
We are running Phoenics V3.6 in a single-CPU version using Windows XP Professional, and would like to know what would be a cost-effective system to buy (for instance a P4 at 3.8 GHz). I compared a {2.0 GHz Xeon with 2 GB RAM} with a {2.6 GHz Pentium 4 with hyperthreading with 1 GB}, and a {dual Xeon 2.2 GHz with 1.5 GB}. I found that the calculation time only depends on the clock frequency in these cases (the dual Xeon only uses one CPU). Does anyone have some advice on a particular system set-up or CPU? And would the CPU cache make any difference if it were 1 MB or 2 MB? I would be grateful for any help! |

I recommend you an AMD CPU, these have a better performance that any intel with the same characteristics and are cheaper, more cache is better, WinXP pro 64bit is on the market, at end of May AMD will put on the market the dual core CPU's, try them out and look what performance really is.
