Importing DXF files

I am trying to import from a CAD package to PHOENICS in DXF format. I go to object menu/CAD interface/import DXF and select my DXF file. When I click open and the "open DFX data" window comes up, I select ok. Then a window saying "warning. no points or facets created. File conversion failed" comes up. Can someone tell me how to sort this out? Thanks in advance

It is most likely how the original file was set-up and the DXF file created from. In Autocad the 3D image needs to be created in a particular way and then exported in a particular way to form the DXF file.
If possible, try exporting the shape file to another format than dxf to then import into phoenics. I tend to use stl files - I find them to be the easiest to export to and the easiest to import into phoenics. Hope this helps Leon |

I haven't used phoenics -vr but i know what you did wrong. WHEN YOU EXPORT A DXF FROM YOUR CAD PACKAGE (I USE AUTOCAD) PHOENICS CAN UNDERSTAND ONLY 3DFACETS THE SUBSTANCIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POLYGON MESH. I MEAN THAT YOU MUST DRAW SURFACES WITH 3DFACE ENTITIES.IF YOU USE AUTOCAD CHECK WITH EXPLODE COMMAND iIN A POLYGON MESH THAT YOU WILL HAVE 3DFACES.
SEND ME EMAIL TO darkritual90@hotmail.com WITH SUBJECT "phoenics" AND I WILL HELP YOU. |
