Cells of current line in three dimensionnal flow

Hellow, I want to know the vector components along a tube line in three dimensionnal (3D) flow. The problem is that in 3D flow, dispite the possibility to draw the current lines in photon, I couldn't determine cells from which pass these latter on which I want to calculate the vector components. ( It is dificult to identify these cells by regarding them in PHOTON because current lines are in 3D) So, is there a possibility to identify cells from which pass the current lines?
Thank you |

Dear Gacem
As far as I know there are no possibility from PHOTON. The 3D streamlines are calculated by inserting massless particles into the grid and interpolating the velocity from neighbour cells to determine the particle path. The lines do not necessarily match with the vectors in cells. You can allways read the PHI (PHIDA) file and to make a program to locate those cells into the grid. Try to emulate the scheme followed by PHOTON and track the trajectory of each particle. Regards Kike |

I think you might well be able to do this using GENTRA. Set GENTRA to track massless particles. You get essentially the same thing as streamlines in Photon, but you have much more ability to interact to find out what is going on along the track.
