Hello,
have just installed OpenFoam without any troubles. Have just tryed out the first tutorial (cavity). Unfortunately, something doesn't seem to be right with my paraFoam. The Region Status pannel is not where its supposed to be (doesn't exist). However, it is very important for me to check the boxes in the region status pannel, as I won't e able to see my mesh, shape and so forth. I have read the tutuorial numerous times and I just can't find what I might have done wrong. I did following steps: 1) I added the bashrc comand in order to run open foam in my terminal 2)cd $FOAM_RUN/tutorials/incompressible/icoFoam/cavity 3) I have done checkMesh 4) paraFoam (files which are being created through icoFoam area already there for the cavity example. But have also tryed to delete it and run the calculation from the beginnning) 5)paraFoam It opens up my paraFoam Window, where I can also see the cavity part being which has been loaded. Got the same issue with all other examples which are supplied with openfoam Thank you already for your replies and help |

Perhaps you are using a 64 bit version while your system is 32 biti Linux!
Try to get a 32 bit paraview version in this site http://www.paraview.org/paraview/res.../software.html Decompress, enter in the created directory, enter the bin directory and click in paraview icon. Open the cavity0.vtk and proceed normaly It works for me |

Try to type uname -m in your terminal command.
If the awser is i686, your Linux is a 32 bit version. |

Hello,
I have the same problem as "Oldschool" did, and I found other people talking about the same issue, with further enquiries but still no solution: http://www.mail-archive.com/paraview.../msg04705.html I actualy have the mentioned symptoms, begining with "Not A Number" values in the dataset. So, I tried the alternative way to use foamToVTK to export the dataset and open it then. This solution isn't as efficient as the "paraFoam" one should be, but seems to work. for further details see (for instance) http://www.openfoamworkshop.org/2009...Processing.pdf btw, I'm running with openFoam 1.6 and paraview 3.6.1, on a ubuntu 9.10 32bit platform Hope it can help, Jean-Baptiste |
