Hello,
I just installed openFoam on FreeBSD 6.1 The process was lengthy, but sucessful. Paraview works fine and the foam installationtest was successful. However, when trying to run the first tutorial, I get the following error running paraFoam: # Error or warning: ERROR: In /work/a/ports/science/paraview/work/paraview-2.4.2/Utilities/VTKClientServer/vtk ClientServerInterpreter.cxx, line 866 vtkClientServerInterpreter (0x8074d80): Cannot find module "libPVFoamReader.so". The following paths were searched: /usr/local/lib/paraview-2.4 /usr/local/OpenFOAM/lib/FreeBSDOpt/mpich-1.2.6 /usr/local/mpich/lib /home/berkelaiv/OpenFOAM/berkelaiv-1.2/lib/FreeBSDOpt /usr/local/OpenFOAM/lib/FreeBSDOpt /usr/local/mpich/bin /usr/local/bin /usr/local/jdk1.4.2/bin /home/berkelaiv/OpenFOAM/berkelaiv-1.2/applications/bin/FreeBSDOpt /usr/local/OpenFOAM/applications/bin/FreeBSDOpt /usr/local/OpenFOAM/wmake /usr/local/OpenFOAM/bin /sbin /bin /usr/sbin /usr/bin /usr/games /usr/local/sbin /usr/X11R6/bin /usr/lib /usr/lib/vtk /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/vtk ERROR: In /work/a/ports/science/paraview/work/paraview-2.4.2/GUI/Client/vtkPVXMLPackagePar ser.cxx, line 677 vtkPVXMLPackageParser (0x8bcca80): Error loading Library component PVFoamReader ErrorMessage end ErrorMessage # Error or warning: There was a VTK Error in file: /work/a/ports/science/paraview/work/paraview-2.4.2/GUI/Client/vtkPVWindow.cxx (2364) vtkPVWindow (0x82a8c00): Cannot read file information when no reader is specified. This probably means that the reader for the file with name: /usr/home/berkelaiv/OpenFOAM/berkelaiv-1.2/run/tutorials/icoFoam/cavity/cavity.f oam cannot be found ErrorMessage end ErrorMessage # Error or warning: There was a VTK Error in file: /work/a/ports/science/paraview/work/paraview-2.4.2/GUI/Widgets/vtkKWApplication. cxx (1335) vtkPVApplication (0x804ff00): Script: paraFoam.pvs Returned Error on line 11: invalid command name "" ErrorMessage end The root cause seems to be a missing shared library. The library is indeed nowhere to be found. Does anyone have a hint where to look for the library or how to compile the missing library? Thanks. Arij van Berkel |

The library is in:
OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.3/lib/linuxAMD64Gcc4DPOpt/libPVFoamReader.so and should appear after you compile the source of OpenFOAM. Dragos |
