Dear Foamers,

we are currently working on an axisymmetric flow, where a disk is rotating (very fast) in a cylindrical object. The flow is calculated in a plane (i.e. the wedge in OF) that is parallel to the axis, i.e., fundamentally different to the 2Dmixer case.

The case runs perfectly with MRFsimpleFoam and the results (i.e., the values in the text files) look ok: The resulting main flow is in circumferential direction with some flow radially outward and in axial direction.

Now the problem:
When we display the results for the velocity in paraview using parafoam and we select to display the cell values, everything is fine and works correctly:

However, plotting the point values, gives this:

, which is completely different and wrong (but smooth as it is interpolated from the point value:-) ). Hence, it seems that during the conversion from the foam text file to the point data (I don't know how this works?!?) something happens that we don't like at all. I guess, this problem will also effect plotting streamlines as here interpolation is also required. Unfortunately, this is what we want to do.

We would be very thankful for any recommendations on how to solve this issue and get correct point values in parafoam. Maybe it would be enough to know how the point values are calculated in paraview

Hi,

i am trying to do the axi-symmetric flow between two parallel disks, and i am facing troubles.

from your case, i thought it might help me?
can you send me just the boundary types you put for the geometry and the boundary types in the /0 folder directory for p, and U.

thanks a lot

yours,
T.D.
