Default Export data - point data or vertex data?

When I export the data from my simulation, the "field association" options include vertex data and point data? I am guessing that "vertex data" is the value of each variable at each node in the mesh. If so, what is "point data" then?

I need the data at each node in any case. Which export option gets me that?

Thanks!
