Hello foamers,
I have issues initiating paraview from the newly installed OpenFOAM versio 19.06 on ubuntu versio 18.04. After running the pitzdaily tutorial, following errors occur: Created temporary 'pitzDaily.foam' QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-rli' failed to get the current screen resources Aborted (core dumped) This is the case for all executing commands, i.e. paraFoam, paraFoam &, paraFoam -builtin &, paraFoam -builtin, paraview, paraview &, paraview -builtin, paraview -builtin & I know some of the entries might not even be correct, I am just lost for ideas.. I haven't encountered any errors during installation of either Paraview or OpenFOAM. I noticed on the OpenFOAM v7 (openfoam.org), there is a folder paraviewopenfoem56 in the /opt directory where openfoam7 is also installed. This is not the case for OpenFOAM version 19.06 installation on $HOME directory. Could this be the cause? Any ideas? *UPDATE* I found a work around, however a premanent solution is preferred! Workaround: Running paraview using the command sudo paraview The temporary .FOAM file will not be created like this, thus running the command touch output.foam does the trick. The extension to paraFoam, namely -builtin is not needed when running paraview. Some errors do occur in this workaround, however they can be safely ignored according to https://discourse.paraview.org/t/tex...per-3d/2232/10. Please do let me know if you find an actual solution.
