version: OpenFOAM-5.0
issue:

I calculated Reynolds Stresses using the R utility :

pisoFoam -postProcess -func R

turbulenceProperties:R file was generated.

Next when I launch the ParaView software using the 'paraFoam' command and try to import the above file/properties in the ParaView software, I get the following error and the application crashes flashing following error...
paraFoam
Created temporary 'test.OpenFOAM'
I/O : uncollated

--> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR:
mapMethod should be one of 'planarInterpolation', 'nearest'

file: /home/student/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-5.0/simFiles/test/300/turbulenceProperties:R.boundaryField.INLET from line 17605 to line 17609.

From function Foam::timeVaryingMappedFixedValueFvPatchField<Type >::timeVaryingMappedFixedValueFvPatchField(const Foam::fvPatch&, const Foam:: DimensionedField<Type, Foam::volMesh>&, const Foam::dictionary&) [with Type = Foam::SymmTensor<double>]
in file fields/fvPatchFields/derived/timeVaryingMappedFixedValue/timeVaryingMappedFixedValueFvPatchField.C at line 102.

FOAM exiting

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

What could be possible reason for this? Please help

[Properties calculated by other utilities work fine. The issue is only with R

Could you check your mapFieldsDict? It seems your mapMethod is not in the dictionary. It may be a typo.

I see the mapsFieldsDict @
OpenFOAM-5.0/applications/utilities/preProcessing/mapsFieldsDict

What edit is to be made in this file if any?
[pardon my ignorance, I am not that familiar with the OF]

One (not-so-smart) fix is to:

1) go to 'turbulenceProperties:R' file

2) search 'mapMethod'

3) make the following edit and save the file
mapMethod planarInterpolation;

4) now ParaView opens it normally!

I do hope that there is some of avoiding all this fuss at the first place
