Calculate distances between two arbitrary surfaces

Hello,
I am looking to compare the deflection/change in a surface relative to a reference surface and ultimately plot the contours of this. These surfaces may not have the same number of "points". I had a search of the forum but did not spot anything. I have had success in the past using a programmable filter to interact with vtkPolyData to present a delta in radius of a surface based off a reference line. I have heard of a vtkDistancePolyDataFilter but have been unable to find an example using it that would fit my purpose or get it to work by trial and error myself. Essentially from two surface objects (reference and deformed) in my pipeline I would like to pass them to the programmable filter and then have this output an array on the deformed surface. Has anyone any suggestions or material to look at. Or even a different approach. I am using Paraview V 4.1.0. Cheers! |

Just using the vtkDistancePolyDataFilter without any fettling turned out to do what I required in the end. Not sure what I was doing before.
Cheers. |
