Paraview crashes using "Find Data" functionality

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using ParaView SC17 preview of 5.5 64-bit on Windows 8.1 64-bit. I'm not a poweruser of paraview, I mostly use paraview for a simple task: looking for certain triangles on a vtk-file using the "Find Data" approach. This is what happens: I load a vtk file, on which I want to find certain triangles (I know the ID / IDs of the triangle(s)). Then I use the "Find Data" functionality with the following options: Find "Cell(s)" from "my_file.vtk" "ID" "is" "5" -> Run Selection Query Then paraview crashes. No info or messages why this happens. It just closes. This simple task worked before. Is it possible that this has something to do with my python installations and the python environment variables? Because I had to change my python installations and environment variables, and I think before this the "Run Data" still worked. I tried different paraview versions (starting from 4.0, also tried 32-bit and 64-bit). But that didn't work. Is there maybe somewhere a paraview crash report or log file or something? Which could give me a hint what is happening? Many thanks and kind regards |

Hi Michael
unfortunately, I couldn’t solve it. Luckily, I don't work with paraview anymore. But my solution back then was just using a different PC were this functionality still worked (very convenient, I know ). Sorry & Cheers Last edited by Turbine; April 14, 2020 at 05:25. Reason: Typos |

Thank you for your repl. Updating to 5.8 solves the problem. |
