Dear Foamer,

I'm currently working on simulating the dynamic interaction between cylinder and progressive wave. After the simulating, I need to present those result in Paraview. To be specific, I extracted the water free surface of each time step into VTK file. Then importing single result at each time step as shown below (which can also refer to the first attachment):
case.jpg

However, I plan to make a animation for showing the variation of free water surface during the whole simulation time. For example (which can also refer to the second attachment):
sample.jpg

There are also a link from Youtube:

Since I have tried many ways to make a animation like their work done in Paraview. However, I still cannot achieve any further outcome.

Could anyone give me some information and help for addressing this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Lewis,

What part are you exactly stuck at?

Hi! @Joshua! I'm trying to make the animation of a three dimensional case study to show the variation of water free surface by using Paraview. When I presented the dynamic variation in Paraview, both of the water and air fields are shown within the whole mesh. In this case, we cannot clearly observe the variation of water free surface around the cylinder, as you can see from the attachment file.
case_surface.jpg

At this moment, I just can only present the variation of water free surface at specific time step by adding the VTK file related to the water free surface, which is fixed status, rather than a animation that can present those variation during the whole simulated time. After looking some videos from YouTube, I know a animation can be made to present the variation of water free surface, which extracts the air domain and just presents the water free surface, as you can see by this link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qliRPwA3QUI

But from the knowledge I know so far, I can not make such a animation by different trial. I wonder that, whether there are some filters need to be defined or steps need to set up?

Cheers!

Lewis,

If you can make the *.vtk files sequential then you should be able to flip though them like time steps in paraview and use paraview to make the animation. Else, you can save the individual files as *.png and then make a video out of the *.png's if they are numbered correctly. (i.e. *.0000.png, *.0001.png, *.0002.png....)

Hi! @Joshua!

Thanks for your tips!

Now, I'm try to use some script to make those VTK files as one total file.

Many thanks to you!
