Paraview 5.0.1: ParticleTracer and ParticlePath lead to a blank screen

I am using OpenFOAM to simulate fluid flow out of tanks. I'm a bit of a newbie, but can run a simulation and plot the results in Paraview, no problem.
For a few weeks now, I have been trying to see what happens to fluid that initially lies along a horizontal line during a simulation. The line should become deformed as fluid leaves the tank through a narrower outlet. The only way I can think of to do this in Paraview is to use the "ParticleTracer" and "ParticlePath" filters. However, when I try to use them, I end up with only a blank screen. Here's what I'm doing: First I go to Paraview's "Sources" menu. I choose either "Plane" or "Line" or even "Point Source." But then when I invoke the "ParticleTracer" or "ParticlePath" filters, I get a blank screen. A forum post I saw by someone who had a similar issue online advises using "glyph" representation to see the results, but that doesn't work for me. I am using Paraview version 5 and Ubuntu 16.04. Before yesterday, I was using earlier versions of both and expected that updating might help, but updating has made no difference to my problem. There must be something I'm doing wrong. If anyone has time to describe how they use this filter or to point me to a detailed tutorial/example someone, I'd really appreciate it. I would also be willing to pay someone to help at this point. Thank you very much. |
