[OpenFOAM] Paraview does not display results

I am using openFoam 2.3.0. Last week I installed some Ubuntu updates (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) and since then the paraview has stopped working. I tried rolling back the updates but nothing seems to help.

The problem is i can open paraview/parafoam but I can not see any results. Something similar to this thread.

I have gone through numerous threads and nothing seemed to help. Being tired, I updated from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and re-installed openFoam 2.3.0. But the problem persists. Since LTS to LTS update preserves all the files, I am assuming the erroneous files are still somewhere hidden inside Ubuntu.

Currently I am installing openFoam 3.0.1 to see if the problem occurs for other versions of openFoam. Meanwhile, any help and suggestions are welcome.

After installing openFoam 3.0.1 I can visualize results with paraview 4.4.0 but paraview 4.1.0 is still not working.
