Hi guys,

1 I wanna run it parallel, so I set use multicore. then relaunch. but it said:
Generic Warning: In C:\DBD\pvs-x64\paraview\src\paraview\ParaViewCore\ServerManag er\Core\vtkSMSession.cxx, line 266
Failed to automatically launch 'pvserver' for multi-core support. Defaulting to local session.

2 After I open a OpenFOAM case. and set opacity smaller than 1. it crashed.and said its an appcrash...

Does anyone know how to figure this out?

Greetings sharonyue,

I would suggest a few things:
  1. Do not use ParaView's multi-core feature for opening OpenFOAM cases. AFAIK it does not work.
What will work is to use ParaView as single-core, but be able to open the decomposed case.
  2. In Ubuntu the problem seems to be either wrongly installed drivers for the graphics card or because Compiz is turned on. Try turning off Compiz...
  3. Back on Windows, you might want to try ParaView 3.14.1 instead, just in case.
Best regards,
Bruno

Tnanks Bruno, I turnned off the Compiz, and that doesnot work. maybe its because of my wrongly installed graphics driver. I have two graphics cards in my laptop. and seems like there is no way to install nvida graphic card on ubuntu 12 04 in a two graphic cards computer. I tried many times and failed. but thanks a lot. ·~

just now I tried paraview 314. after I set the opacity it crash too....

I have the same problem that my paraview crashes when I try to change the opacity. I am using ParaView on a 64 bit windows 7 laptop with a NVIDIA Quadro K2000M Graphics card. I am using ParaView 3.98.1. I already tried ParaView 3.14.1 but this version also crashes when I try to change the opacity. Does anybody know a solution to this problem?

Greetings TBO and welcome to the forum!

I'd suggest that you try ParaView 3.12.0 as well.
The other possibility is that you need to upgrade or downgrade the NVidia drivers.

Although I would suggest that you search ParaView's user mailing list first for more information on this topic: http://paraview.markmail.org/ - I vaguely remember seeing some questions about this some time ago... although most were on Linux...

Best regards,
Bruno
