Hi to all,
I would like to use 2 stationary parts in a simulation, which are not 1:1 connected by the meshes...

In CFX I just use a ggi to connect them.

Now I would like to test this in OF. Has somebody done this in OF by the new AMI in OF210 and can give me a short advice?

Best regards,

Hannes

Thanks for your response,

i´ve had a look in these tutorials (propeller and the mixerVessel).

My problem is, that in these tutorials the AMI is used for cyclic sections and the interface is some kind of a cylinder barrel...

But I want to use it for a planar circular interface... e.g. to connect two pipe sections.

I hope the problem definition is clear...

I would be pleased, if someone can help me.

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi

Its exactly the same approach.

You just couple two patches, dont matter if they are square/cylinder/disk/plane.

As long as they match sufficiently you're good to go

Hi,

that sounds good

So I just define the 2 patches of type cyclicAMI?

Are there further steps to do, to get the case running?
At the moment I´m not sure, what steps of the propeller tutorial
(e.g topoSet) are needed in my case.

Hi,

you could also have a look at the ggi tools in OpenFOAM-1.6 ext.

Best Regards,
Christian

In the last days I tried another approach - to connect the 2 pipe parts by the mergeMesh + stitchMesh utilities in OF.

Principally that works not so bad. But sometimes non-orthogonal faces are generated. ( *-warning in checkMesh (not ***))

Now I´m thinking about, what is better?

- AMI (GGI) with the original good quality mesh
- direct connection with a slightly worser mesh quality

Best Regards,

Hannes
