Dear foamers
Im about to use rhoSimpleFoam in openFoam. This solver is very vague and many users have problem with it. It is natural that for compressible flow the situation is more sensitive to the parameters, but I tried every thing(!) I could for the simplest geometries. Did anyone obtained reasonable and stable results from this solver. Thanks |

hi dear mohsen!
i didn't have worked with rhoSimpleFoam yet but i think you should define ur problem more precisely, put ur case ur result and where you face the problem!!! maybe some on can help you here!!! when there is a solver in official edition of OpenFOAM , it surely works fine!!! maybe you need to change ur BC or fvSchemes or ..... to reach an stable result! |

Hi Olesen,
I am a beginer in OpenFoam as well as cfd. I am trying to simulate a steady, compressible flow through a scr catalyst. My geometry looks like the olden days telephone with an injector placed on the bend (I cannot share the geometry, hope are getting a n idea of how it looks). The inlet and outlet are the two ends of the phone and the rest is the wall. Iam using the rhoSimpleFoam solver for this. I just have some initial values for temperature at inlet and outlet, pressure at inlet and the mass flowrate at inlet. I have tried to run the solver with the information i have. My solver runs for certain number of steps and then crashes showing this error. Time = 0.0023 smoothSolver: Solving for Ux, Initial residual = 0.68767, Final residual = 0.0654185, No Iterations 4 smoothSolver: Solving for Uy, Initial residual = 0.630922, Final residual = 0.0547734, No Iterations 4 smoothSolver: Solving for Uz, Initial residual = 0.687318, Final residual = 0.0651879, No Iterations 4 DILUPBiCG: Solving for h, Initial residual = 0.222467, Final residual = 0.0115436, No Iterations 1 #0 Foam::error:rintStack(Foam::Ostream&) in "/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linuxGccDPOpt/lib/libOpenFOAM.so" #1 Foam::sigFpe::sigHandler(int) in "/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linuxGccDPOpt/lib/libOpenFOAM.so" #2 Uninterpreted: #3 Foam::hPsiThermo<Foam:ureMixture<Foam::sutherlan dTransport<Foam::specieThermo<Foam::hConstThermo<F oam:erfectGas> > > > >::calculate() in "/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linuxGccDPOpt/lib/libbasicThermophysicalModels.so" #4 Foam::hPsiThermo<Foam:ureMixture<Foam::sutherlan dTransport<Foam::specieThermo<Foam::hConstThermo<F oam:erfectGas> > > > >::correct() in "/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linuxGccDPOpt/lib/libbasicThermophysicalModels.so" #5 in "/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linuxGccDPOpt/bin/rhoSimpleFoam" #6 __libc_start_main in "/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6" #7 in "/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linuxGccDPOpt/bin/rhoSimpleFoam" Gleitkomma-Ausnahme I dont know why but i am not able to attach the directories of my case with this thread. Can you give me your email id so that i can send them to you??(if you need them) Can you please guide me as to what am i doing wrong?? As i have very little experience with cfd i am confused as to what i can do. Thanking you in advance Abhinay |
