Hello,

I would like to know if we can use a fan boundary condition at a geometry stl. I searched in the forum and i just find when we define the geometry of the fan in the blockMesh. I don't speak very well english perhaps the answer is in the forum and i didn't understand.

Thank you

Hi Hitomi,

I had the same problem, and I don't think it is possible to define a classical fan BC (mean pressure jump through an interface) from an STL file and using snappyHexMesh.

More since version 2.0 the way the cyclic BC are defined has changed.

For my case I meshed the whole domain with snappyHexMesh without the fan interface. then I used topoSet et createBaffle utility. you have a good example in the tutorial pimpleFoam/TjunctionFan.

There is another solution sing the fanPressure BC intruduced in 2.0.0. With this one you can define two different patches from stl files in snappyHexMesh. then you can define in your BC each one of them either as an outlet or an inlet.

Hope it is helpfull
