Hello
I've done a simulation of a turbulent pipe (Re_tau=200), I need now the value of the mean U...is there some post processing utilities for this? or also for calculate the u', v' (but also the only the Umean because I calculate the others with the filter calculator in paraview)

thank you all

Calculate the magnitude of the velocity: foamCalc mag U
Average this magnitude at the inlet or outlet: patchAverage magU patchname

but this type of averaging give me the average value on all inlet (then an average in in the all section) or it is an average on streamwise direction?

because I need a mean value for obtain the fluctuations of velocity...(then I've to transform them from Cartesian coordinates to cylindric one but for this I use the filter calculator)

then I need or a temporal mean among the different time steps or a spatial mean in the streamwise direction...

thank you for the answer

I found a solution....
I use the filter temporal statistics and I obtain the U average and after using append attributes I can merge the data of the simulation and the data of the temporal statistic and after calculate the fluctuations.

best regards

Fabio
