create the file *.foam

While trying the OpenFOAMtutorial -Cavity , every time when I execute create blockmesh, Foam-1.5 do not create any file name cavity.foam although it give successful create mesh. I had try many time in different machine but still no cavity.foam file create.
Please help! Thank you in advance. You seem a bit lost... the OpenFOAM version you are using isn't the official version. Most likely, you are using the fork openfoam-mswin. And the problem you are having has already been addressed on this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...r-windows.html - see scroll down to the posts #10 and #11! Best regards, Bruno

I will refer it. I want to ask you a question? I don't know the function between OpenFoam for window and OpenFoam for linux is similar or not? If i use the Open Foam for window i can use full function like OpenFoam for linux. Best regards, Phong |

Well, openfoam-mswin has limited functionality. You can try using it until you reach its limitations. The official Linux version (available here: www.openfoam.com) has the full set of available solvers and utilities. For a quick start with the Linux version, you'll be better off with the Ubuntu 10.04 version: http://www.openfoam.com/download/ubuntu.php There is another variant of OpenFOAM, named OpenFOAM-dev, that has additional functionalities on top of the official version, available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/openfoam-extend/files/ It even has a sweet DVD image that has that version pre-installed and ready to use! In case you are interested in full OpenFOAM capabilities in Windows and don't have time to loose, you can also resort to low cost paid solutions available by:

Possibly you didn't run blockMesh prior to icoFoam.
