Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to model the following problem. I have an internal wall between to rooms. There is no pressure and velocity exchange between the rooms, only heat transfer. The wall can be modulated with zero-thickness. thr solver shoul be buoyantSimpleRadiationFoam because I have a Radiation source in one room. I'm not sure If a have to define the the internal wall as patch and how the initial conditions , especially for the Temparture should look like. Greetings Anke |

I think you should create a wall with thickness, defined as solid, with the appropriate thermal conductivity. Then the heat flux between the two rooms will be calculated. I think you can't fix it through a boundary condition. I don't have experience with turbulent models and I don't know if you need to specify the heat transfer coeff on the walls, but I think this is the correct way at least for laminar. thanks for your help. If I use a wall with thickness, do I have to use the chtMultiRegionFoam-Solver? That would be a Problem, because this solver does not have a Radiationmodel. Greetings Anke |

Yes I think that is the appropriate solver, because if the difference of temperature between rooms is important, the conduction equation must be solvet on the wall. If you need the radiation model, may be you can add it to the chtMultiRegionalFoam but Im not able to help you in this way. On the other hand, if you consider that the heat flux between rooms is negligible, you can fix the zeroGradient condition for the temperature on the walls. Sorry for not being more help.
